Abandoned rooms make up the earlier portions of Jeffery’s work, but I don’t think the focus is the building, but rather the ambiguous occupancy of the space.  Some images seem to imply the presence of a person, living in filth, either due to poverty or indifference to their surroundings.  

There’s a keen balance between the element of documenting a habitat and his use of colors and depth of field that makes this standard, almost exhaustively exploited subject matter interesting again.  I’m glad there are no people in these images.   

One day, when I’m good and settled, my entire house will resemble that of Anne Hardy’s artistic endeavors.
