Arthur Tress’s “Documerica.”

Documentation of the rampant pollution of New York Harbor in the early 1970’s.

This is one of my favorite photo series, by one of my favorite artists, and although the original intent was to have the EPA get in gear and begin preventing things like this from happening, I can’t help but think these images are from nicer times.

You just don’t see trash like that anymore, and it’s a damn shame.
